Shipping Policy

1. Overview

Art is Lit is a marketplace where independent artists (“Sellers”) create, list, and ship their own original works. This Shipping Policy explains how shipping is handled for purchases made through the platform.

Art is Lit is not the seller of record and does not directly ship items, except where otherwise agreed in writing. Each Seller is responsible for fulfilment, safe packaging, and shipping of their artworks.

2. Seller Responsibilities

  • Packaging: Sellers must package items securely to prevent damage in transit. Fragile items (ceramics, sculptures, glass, framed works) should be double-boxed and padded appropriately. Drawings and prints must be supported with protective boards or tubes.

  • Dispatch Time: Sellers must ship within their advertised processing time. Any delays must be communicated to the Buyer through the Platform.

  • Carrier & Method: Sellers may choose their carrier (e.g., DHL, UPS, Royal Mail, FedEx) but must ensure the method is reliable and appropriate for the artwork’s fragility and value.

  • Tracking: Sellers should provide a valid tracking number whenever possible. For high-value or fragile works, tracked and signed delivery is strongly recommended.

  • Insurance: Sellers are encouraged to insure high-value or fragile items. If uninsured, the Seller remains responsible for loss or damage.

3. Buyer Responsibilities

  • Accurate Information: Buyers must provide a correct and complete delivery address at checkout.

  • Duties & Taxes: Buyers are responsible for all import duties, VAT, customs clearance, and handling fees unless the Seller specifies otherwise in their listing. These charges are non-refundable.

  • Delivery Acceptance: Buyers must accept delivery or collect parcels within the carrier’s timeframe. Failure to do so may result in additional re-shipping costs.

4. Estimated Delivery Times

  • Delivery times are displayed at checkout but may vary due to carrier delays, weather, customs clearance, or other external events.

  • Sellers and Art is Lit cannot guarantee exact delivery dates unless explicitly stated in the listing.

5. Risk of Loss & Damaged Shipments

  • Risk Transfer: Risk of loss remains with the Seller until the Buyer receives the artwork.

  • Damaged in Transit: If an item arrives damaged, Buyers must report this within 14 days of delivery with photos of the item and original packaging.

  • Resolution: The Seller is responsible for refunding or replacing the damaged order and may claim compensation from the carrier.

  • Non-Delivery: If tracking confirms an item was not delivered, the Seller must provide a replacement or issue a refund (see Returns & Refunds Policy).

6. Incorrect Address or Missed Deliveries

  • If the Buyer enters an incorrect address and the parcel is returned to the Seller, the Buyer may need to cover re-shipping costs.

  • If the parcel is not returned, resolution depends on carrier policies and insurance coverage.

7. International Orders

  • International shipments may be subject to inspection and customs clearance, which can delay delivery.

  • Neither Art is Lit nor Sellers are responsible for customs delays.

8. Role of Art is Lit

Art is Lit facilitates communication, payment, and may assist in dispute mediation. However, Art is Lit does not package, ship, or guarantee delivery of artworks unless explicitly stated in writing.

9. Updates

This Shipping Policy may be updated at any time. The latest version will always be available on the Platform and applies to orders placed after its effective date.
